Rishab Prasanna is celebrated as one of India's premier flute players, showcasing exceptional talent and artistry.

Background

Rishab Prasanna grew up in a family of musicians from Varanasi, the city of light and cradle of North Indian music. His grandfather, Raghunath Prasanna, regarded as one of the great pioneer of Indian flute Bansuri and established the renonwed Prasanna Gharana, features in the famous anthology of Indian classical music published by UNESCO, recorded by Alain Daniélou in the 50s. He was a court musician in the service of the Maharajas.

His father, Pandit Rajendra Prasanna, is today the leading exponent of this musical tradition, steeped in the regional repertoire of the Ganges Valley, inspired by the Khyal and Thumri vocal tradition, and nourished by the technical refinements that have brought the bansuri flute to the forefront of the world stage.

He has performed at some renonwed venues and festival such as Philharmonie de Paris, Sydney Opera House, WOMAD festival in Australia and Newzealand, World Sacred Music Festival in Fez, Philharmonie of Hamburg, 75th anniversary of UNESCO in Paris and many more...

Honored with Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Sangeet Natak Academy award (National award from Ministry of Culture, India), 2021

and french award as- “Ambassador of the city of Toulouse” - from Toulouse City, 2016

For the past fifteen years, Rishab has spent part of the year in Europe, where he has taken part in numerous musical projects with artists from different horizons

Masterclass and Workshop

Rishab is also appreciated for his teaching, he organizes workshops and teaches musicians from various backgrounds; he has conducted numerous master classes, among others,

Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Mauritius,

the DROM association in Brittany,

the Haute École de Musique in Geneva,

the Chaville Conservatory,

the CNSM in Lyon,

Pole Sup

and regularly collaborates for educational programs with the ethnomusiKa and KALASETU associations.
